• The Knights' 8A girls basketball team completed the final game of the season with an impressive 57-32 win over Buffalo.  The Knights jumped out to a 29-8 halftime lead and never let up on the gas.  Balanced scoring was the name of the game as all ten girls on the team scored for the Knights led by Gabby K. with 12 points,  Brooklyn B. with 9, Trynn B. with 8, Olivia S. and Ella E. with 6, Renae F. with 5, Kali M. with 4, Callan W. and Cece L. with 3, and Caylee C. with 1.  Caylee and Olivia hounded the Bison on defense while Brooklyn and Trynn provided the muscle rebounding the ball.  As they have done all season, the girls shared the ball, finding the open cutter and benefiting off of crisp pick and roll opportunities. Both the Blue and Gold 8th grade teams finished the season with 4-0 records, with the Blue team winning the coveted STMA head-to-head scrimmage and veggie fruit snacks. The coaches have truly enjoyed the time with this amazing group of girls and wish them the best in their basketball pursuits.

The 7th Grade White team had their final game and final victory of the season last night against the Buffalo Bison. The girls came out strong and quickly built up a hefty lead with good pick and roll looks, quick steals, and an improvement on our layup completions. Emily S. led the team with 12 points, followed by Jensen R. with 10 and Morgan J. with 9. Adrienne L. contributed a few buckets, along with her high energy and attentiveness, and Bindee N. and Vada B. dominated the boards. Our lead was strong enough to turn off the final score, so the girls went 6-0 for a very successful season. They had great teamwork, a positive attitude, and were great cheerleaders for their teammates as well as for the 8th grade girls. Thanks for a fun season, ladies!

  • The 7th grade White team came out as a well-oiled machine last night against the Becker Bulldogs and ended the night 60-13. We ran the scoreboard the entire game and had lots of good looks and ran our plays with calm and precision. Marissa W. ended the night with 15, Emily S. with 11, and Sam H. with 10. Vada and Bindee had great rebounding and Maddy ran the floor on steals and tip aways. Adrienne L. is our powerhouse and is always hustling and knows the flow of the game well. The girls have great teamwork and are looking forward to finishing the season strong next week.

On Thursday, January 28th the STMA Knights 8A Gold team hosted the Bulldogs from Becker and won handily by a score of 45-32.  Renae F. came out scorching the nets with three straight 3-pointers and a game high 18 points.  Trynn B. did her best imitation of the human fly swatter, blocking shots at will on defense and accumulating 8 points and 4 of 6 from the free throw line. Ella E. had another great night shooting with 6 points.  Kali M., Caylee C. and Chloe Y. accounted for 13 additional points including a combined 5 for 6 from the charity stripe.  Kennedy V., Ava S., and Ava N. contributed many nice pick-and-roll passes combined with good hustle rebounds to help the Knights to victory.

Jenson R. had an amazing game scoring 16 points as a result of nice passes from her team.  Emily S. put in another solid game scoring 10 while playing great defense utilizing her athletic ability. It was a great team win with all the girls making solid contributions.

Congrats to the STMA 8th grade Blue Basketball Team as they successfully continued on their quest for an undefeated school-ball season, knocking off a pesky Monticello Magic team on Tuesday evening, winning by a score of 51-43.

  •  In Middle School Girls 8A basketball, the Knights faced a gritty squad from Buffalo and came out victorious by a score of 46-27.  A host of players scored for the Knights with Gabby K. leading the way with 10 points, mainly from some quick drives to the hoop.  Renae F. was right on her heels with 9 points and 3/3 from the free throw line.  Cece L. and Olivia S. poured in 8 apiece with Olivia drilling a couple nice three pointers.  Rounding out the scoring were Ella E., Kali M., and Trynn B.  The key to the game in the second half was defense as the girls closed down the paint with great shell defensive help. Good ball movement on the offensive end provided nice layup opportunities.

The 8B team was also in action against the Bison and left the Buffalo gym with a convincing 43-6 win.  Chloe Y. ran the fast break well and outraced the Bison for a game-high 14 points.  Many fine outlet passes from Kennedy V., Claire R., and Ava S. allowed Chloe to have easy layups.  Kennedy followed Chloe in points with 10 while Adeline F. nailed a three pointer and added a basket for a total of 5 points, despite playing on a bum ankle.  Also contributing baskets were Sophie D., Josie L., Ava S. Claire R., and Olivia N.  A total team effort sharing the ball was key with many girls feeding the extra pass to allow other girls to score.  A very unselfish game by the girls!

  • Let's give a shout out to the STMA 8A Blue team as they came home victorious from their road trip to Princeton on Thursday afternoon.  The girls were able to execute a tip-play to perfection for a 3 on 1 fast break for a Cece L. lay-up three seconds into the game, and the early lead was something they would never relinquish.  A balanced scoring attack by the Lady Knights was not only fun to watch but also got multiple girls into the scoring column, led by Olivia S's 15 points, including three from downtown! Cece L. put in 12, Adeline F., Brooklyn B., Gabby K. and Callan W. each had at least 6, and how about Olivia N.- scoring her first ever basket in her first ever game- Way to go Olivia! The 8th graders are back in action on Monday afternoon as they travel to Buffalo for a stampede clash with their rival Bison.

  • The STMA 8A Gold team traveled to Big Lake in girls' basketball and came away with a 46-27 victory.  After a slow first half, the Knights got into a second half fast-break rhythm led by Kali M. and Renae F.   Defensive full-court pressure was applied by Caylee C. and the girls never looked back, outscoring the Hornets by 18 in the second half.  Renae, Kali and Trynn B. led the scoring charge with 12, 10, and 10 points.  Trynn displayed some real nice footwork on moves to the basket and also led the team in rebounds.  The team played much better in the second half, sharing the ball and becoming more aggressive on the defensive end.

The 7th grade White team beat Big Lake 40-6. The players worked hard and had great effort with positive energy. Leading scorers were Marissa W. with 15 and Morgan J. with 12. Vada B.set great screens and rebounded well. Adrienne L. showed a lot of effort and grit on the defensive end. All the girls made excellent contributions in the winning effort.

Practices and games will be held at Middle School West.

Schedule: When we are in full Distance Learning, all students will participate all four days they have the activity.

When we are in-person learning, the middle school winter activities will mirror the hybrid academic model. Students that are coming to school on A days (mostly Monday and Tuesday) will participate on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Students who are attending school on B days (mostly Thursdays and Fridays) will participate on those days.

      • Students may only participate with their group (A or B)
      • Catholic School Students and students that have elected to do full distance learning will be placed into either an A group or B group.  This may done to balance numbers.
    • The activity fee will be reduced in half from $150 to $75 to reflect this.

Sports Physical:  Players need to have a sports physical on file in activities office.  Sports physicals are valid for three years. A student with a three-year clearance that expires at any time from March 12, 2020 through the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year will have the clearance extended through the completion of the 2020-2021 school year. You need to have a sports physical on file in order to register through SmartSchoolK12 in ParentVue.

Registration: All Middle School sports registration is done online using ParentVue.

STMA has a new online registration system, SmartSchoolK12 also known as Affinety.  You will need to create a new account and add a funding source before registering.  Follow the instructions on the links below.  Please follow both sets of instructions to help avoid confusion.  Please note, when you register for activities one of the questions asks about online school.  In this case, online refers to being enrolled in a fully online school and does not represent distance learning.

    3. Your coaches will expect you to be at practice every day. Practices follow the A/B Hybrid Academic Schedule when school is in person. During Distance Learning, students participate all four days their activity is offered. Missed practices may result in reduced playing time.
    4. We will bus you to all road games, but you may ride home with your parents after a game rather than ride the bus back to school.
