Good morning!!  It’s Monday, February 8th and it is an In Person day for 5th grade and a Distance Learning Day for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

Video Announcements

  • Welcome back, 5th graders. This week, Team B will be going to lunch first, and Team A will be going to recess first.

  • The Knights' 8A girls basketball team completed the final game of the season Thursday night with an impressive 57-32 win over Buffalo.  The Knights jumped out to a 29-8 halftime lead and never let up on the gas.  Balanced scoring was the name of the game as all ten girls on the team scored for the Knights Cece L. with 3, and Caylee C. with 1.  Caylee hounded the Bison on defense.  As they have done all season, the girls shared the ball, finding the open cutter and benefiting off of crisp pick and roll opportunities. Both the Blue and Gold 8th grade teams finished the season with 4-0 records, with the Blue team winning the coveted STMA head-to-head scrimmage and veggie fruit snacks. The coaches have truly enjoyed the time with this amazing group of girls and wish them the best in their basketball pursuits.

  • The 7th Grade White team had their final game and final victory of the season Thursday night against the Buffalo Bison. The girls came out strong and quickly built up a hefty lead with good pick and roll looks, quick steals, and an improvement on our layup completions. Emily S. led the team with 12 points. Adrienne L. contributed a few buckets, along with her high energy and attentiveness. Our lead was strong enough to turn off the final score, so the girls went 6-0 for a very successful season. They had great teamwork, a positive attitude, and were great cheerleaders for their teammates as well as for the 8th grade girls. Thanks for a fun season, ladies!

  • Attention 5th graders! You are invited to a virtual game of Bingo on Tuesday, February 9th after school from 4-5.  You will be playing with your WEB leaders at your home on a Google Meet. Check out your WEB Google Classroom to reserve your spot!

  • Boys Basketball starts today, Monday, February 8th. You will meet your coaches in Gym 1 at East at 3:15 and practice will go until 4:45pm. Please plan for a ride to pick you up after practice. You can find more information on the Boys Basketball website or by checking in with me, Mrs. Schleicher.

  • There will be a Student Council meeting Wednesday, February 10th from 8:15 - 8:45 am. The meeting will be in Mrs. Gritti's room for 5th graders, and the Google Meet link will be in the Student Council Google Classroom for 6th-8th graders. It will be in person for 5th grade, and then virtual for 6th-8th grade.

  • Student Council is hosting their annual winter fundraiser! This year's theme is Acts of Kindness. All you need to do is be kind, film a quick flipgrid video about your act of kindness, and then wait to see if your name is drawn. You can find the flipgrid in the attendance Google Classroom. Please make sure you state your name, grade, and describe your act of kindness when filming your flipgrid. You're welcome to submit as many videos as you like! If your name is drawn, you will get to choose from a few different local places to donate to. The flipgrid will close on Friday, February 12th, and the winners will be announced on Wednesday, February 17th. If we get enough submissions, there will be school-wide activities as well. See Mrs. Lindquist or Mrs. Gritti if you have any questions!

  • There will be no Jazz or Pep Band today, Monday, February 8 due to parent-teacher conferences. We will now meet in the mornings before school starting at 8:15am. Jazz Band will meet Tuesday, February 16 and Pep Band will meet Friday, February 19. See you then!

  • Here is your Monday Math Question: There is a basket containing 5 apples, how do you divide the apples among 5 children so that each child has 1 apple while 1 apple remains in the basket?  Answer:  4 children get 1 apple each while the fifth child gets the basket with the remaining apple still in it.

  • The hot lunch option is a cinnamon roll with chicken sausage links, potato smiles, steamed carrots, orange juice cup, and fresh fruit. The cold lunch option is a bento box turkey hoagie with tomatoes, lettuce shreds, pickles, baby carrots, sunchips and fresh fruit. Both lunch lines will offer the same options, and lunches are free for all enrolled students.

  • Attention 5th graders: The temperature is below zero, so we will be indoors for recess. Indoor recess will be in your classroom. Please continue to maintain social distance, keep personal devices put away, and follow the rules of your classroom. If your SEL group has not planned what you can do during indoor recess, please take a moment to do so this morning. Team B will eat lunch first and then return to their classrooms for recess. Team A will stay in their rooms for recess and then go to lunch. Students that are in their ALB classes before lunch will return to the pod for recess.

  • 5th Grade choir members on Team A, you are invited to make your way to the choir room during 4th hour. You are dismissed at 1:36 for your rehearsal. Please make sure to check with your teacher before leaving your class. The choir room is located at the bottom of the exit stairs. Team B singers, you will rehearse tomorrow. Bring your singing voice!

Have a great day!
